About Leading Hotels of the World (LHW)

The Leading Hotels of the World was founded in 1928 by a group of Europe’s most influential hoteliers who wanted to protect and promote the art of independent luxury hospitality. Nearly a century later, it has grown into a highly selective collection of more than 400 hotels across around 80 countries. Every member is independently owned or operated, which means no two hotels are alike, and each must meet demanding standards of quality and service to join and remain in the collection.

What defines Leading Hotels is individuality. The collection includes grand palace hotels in Europe’s great capitals, family-run estates with generations of history, design-led city hotels, remote safari lodges, tropical island resorts and intimate countryside retreats. Members range from historic Italian addresses such as the Baglioni hotels in Venice and Rome to secluded beachfront hideaways in Thailand, each shaped by the culture and personality of its owners and destination.
